Abu Dhabi, April 12 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, extending greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During their discussion, EAM Jaishankar expressed his appreciation to Sheikh Mohamed for his role in safeguarding the Indian community in the UAE amidst the ongoing conflicts in West Asia.
Also present was the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
"I am deeply honored to have met President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today in Abu Dhabi. I conveyed the heartfelt greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed our gratitude for his efforts in ensuring the well-being of the Indian community during the West Asia turmoil. I also thanked him for his guidance on further strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," EAM Jaishankar shared on X.
In a separate post, he noted: "It was good to see HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during our meeting. I conveyed our Government's appreciation for his commitment to the welfare of the Indian community in Dubai."
EAM Jaishankar is on a two-day official visit to the UAE. On Saturday, he engaged in talks with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan regarding the evolving situation in West Asia and its broader implications.
The External Affairs Minister expressed optimism about the advancement of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
"It was a pleasure meeting DPM and FM Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi this evening. Our discussion focused on the changing regional dynamics and their implications. I conveyed our sincere appreciation for ensuring the well-being of the Indian community in the UAE. I am confident that our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to grow," he posted on X.
On Saturday, EAM Jaishankar also interacted with members of the Indian community. He emphasized the Indian government's ongoing initiatives to safeguard its nationals during the West Asia crisis.
"I began my visit to the UAE by engaging with members of the Indian Community. I spoke about the Government of India's efforts towards their security and well-being amid the conflict in West Asia. I acknowledged their contributions to local society during these challenging times, as well as the support from the Government of the UAE in ensuring the welfare of the Indian community," the minister stated on X after the meeting.
EAM Jaishankar arrived in the UAE on Saturday for a two-day official visit following his trip to Mauritius, where he participated in the 9th Indian Ocean Conference and met with the local leadership.
