Zlatan Flourishing in New Advisory Role, Declares ‘I Don't Long for Playing Football’

New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) Zlatan Ibrahimovic officially retired in the summer of 2023, marking the end of a spectacular 24-year journey in football. Yet, the former Swedish goal scorer did not take long to enjoy retirement, as he returned to the club in an advisory role under the leadership of Milan's new American investors.

After an illustrious career that spanned decades, Zlatan is satisfied with his current position and asserts that he no longer yearns for the game.

“Since I made the decision to stop playing, I feel at peace with it. Therefore, I don't miss playing football. When I express frustration about not being on the field, it stems from my experiences and abilities; that is where my frustration lies. However, it does not mean I miss the game,” Zlatan stated to uefa.com.

The legendary striker netted a total of 511 goals in 866 club appearances and scored 62 in 122 matches for his national team, earning numerous accolades across Europe. At the age of 43, the former Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United star shared his aspirations for the future with AC Milan.

“I have faith in the project, I believe in what Milan represents, and I share the vision with the people involved and the owners, as they aim to achieve remarkable things. Their ambition is to etch their names in history through victories, and that is where I feel most alive. I am willing to do whatever it takes to win, and I will not quit until I achieve that,” he added.

“I have represented numerous clubs—each remarkable in its own right—but the club that has given me the most throughout my career is Milan. I have had two stints here, and I genuinely appreciate what Milan stands for. My first time here brought me happiness, and my second time filled my heart with love; I simply want to give back,” he concluded.
