New Delhi, Oct 16 (NationPress) The seasoned Indian shooter Zoravar Singh Sandhu demonstrated a consistent performance to remain competitive with the frontrunners after the initial day of men’s trap qualification at the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Championship Shotgun 2025 in Athens, Greece, on Wednesday. Zoravar recorded scores of 24 and 25, placing him fifth (on countback) with a total of 49 hits in a robust field of 133 athletes at the Malakasa Shooting Range in the Greek capital.

Croatia’s Anton Glasnovic and Toufik El Hamri from Morocco currently lead the men’s qualification with a flawless score of 50 out of 50, followed by Zoravar and 13 others at 49 hits.

Among fellow competitors from India, Vivaan Kapoor and Bhowneesh Mendiratta both achieved perfect scores in the second round, ending the day with 48 and 47 hits, respectively. Vivaan scored 23 and 25 in his two rounds, while Bhowneesh had 22 and 25, placing them at 17th and 40th after the first 50 targets.

In the women’s trap event, Kirti Gupta scored 20 and 22 for a total of 42, landing in 43rd position. Neeru Dhanda also finished with 42 hits (scores of 23 and 19), ranking 50th, while Aashima Ahlawat recorded 20 and 19 for a total of 39 hits, placing her 67th after two rounds.

After 125 targets, the top six shooters from each category will advance to the finals for World Championship medals.
