Since the fiscal year 2013-14, women SHGs under DAY-NRLM have accessed a remarkable sum of Rs 10.20 lakh crore in bank credit.

As of February 28, 2025, a total of Rs 51,368.39 crore has been allocated as capitalisation support (including revolving funds and community investment funds) to SHGs and their federations, as stated by Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Rural Development, in a written response in the Lok Sabha.

Currently, the Mission operates in 7,144 blocks across 745 districts within 28 states and six UTs, the minister reported.

The Ministry of Rural Development is executing DAY-NRLM throughout the nation (excluding Delhi and Chandigarh) to organise rural women households into SHGs, providing ongoing support and nurturing until they achieve significant income growth over time, thereby improving their quality of life and alleviating extreme poverty.

The minister highlighted that the initiative has implemented various strategies to enhance marketing assistance for products crafted by women Self-Help Groups.

These measures include hosting ‘Saras Melas’ at both national and state levels to promote the sale of SHG products in urban marketplaces.

In collaboration with the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), the Ministry has established the “SARAS Collection” as a dedicated storefront in GeM for SHG product marketing.

Additionally, memorandums of understanding have been signed between the ministry and platforms such as Flipkart, Amazon, and Fashnear Technologies Pvt Ltd (Meesho) to enable SHG producers, including artisans, weavers, and craftsmen, to reach national markets through initiatives like the Flipkart Samarth programme, Amazon Saheli initiative, and Meesho for marketing SHG products.

An e-commerce platform, (www.esaras.in), has also been launched by the Ministry for the online sale of SHG products.

Moreover, eSARAS is operational as a Seller Network Participant on the ONDC network.
