New Delhi, June 18 (NationPress) A total of 110 Indian students who were evacuated from northern Iran are set to land in New Delhi in the early hours of Thursday as India initiates 'Operation Sindhu' to ensure the safe return of its nationals from the conflict zone.
According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Indian Embassy successfully facilitated the evacuation of these students, who crossed into Armenia on June 17, 2025. Under the guidance of our diplomatic missions in both Iran and Armenia, the students traveled overland to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. They departed Yerevan on a special flight at 14:55 hrs on June 18, 2025, and are expected to arrive in New Delhi early on June 19, 2025, marking a significant milestone in Operation Sindhu.
This evacuation is part of the extensive measures undertaken by the government in recent days to prioritize the safety and security of Indian nationals who have found themselves in Iran amidst escalating tensions due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.
The Indian government has expressed its gratitude to both the Iranian and Armenian governments for facilitating the evacuation process smoothly.
In its statement, the MEA emphasized that the safety and security of Indian nationals abroad remain a top priority. The Indian Embassy in Iran has been actively aiding numerous Indian citizens to relocate from conflict-prone areas to safer regions within the country, subsequently arranging for their evacuation through available options.
The MEA has advised Indian nationals currently in Iran to maintain communication with the Indian Embassy in Tehran via its emergency helpline and to connect with the 24x7 Control Room set up by the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
