MP: 15,298 farmers ace agriculture quiz; 165 win tractors and bikes
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
As many as 15,298 farmers in Madhya Pradesh scored a perfect 24 out of 24 in an online quiz on agricultural development and government welfare schemes, with 165 winners selected through a lottery to receive tractors, Bullet motorcycles, and e-scooters. The prizes will be distributed on 1 November, the state's Foundation Day.
How the Competition Was Structured
The online quiz, held from 29 January to 15 March, comprised 24 multiple-choice questions covering farmers' welfare, agricultural development, and government schemes. Participants had 24 minutes to complete the quiz, with one mark per correct answer and no negative marking. Roughly 40,000 farmers took part in all, of whom 15,298 — including 13,091 men, 2,201 women, and 6 participants in the other category — achieved a perfect score and qualified for the final merit list.
Prize Distribution and District-Level Winners
Under the initiative, organised as part of the Kisan Kalyan Swabhiman Parv, 55 farmers will receive tractors, 55 will get Bullet motorcycles, and another 55 will be awarded e-scooters. Three winners have been drawn from each of Madhya Pradesh's 55 districts through a lottery conducted by a selection committee on 27 October. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will present awards to the three winners from Bhopal district at a state-level function, while in-charge ministers will distribute prizes across the remaining districts.
In Bhopal, Sandeep Verma secured first place, followed by Suhani Rajput in second and Sameer Gaur in third.
What Organisers Said
Shriram Tiwari, Cultural Adviser to the Chief Minister and Trustee Secretary of Veer Bharat Nyas, described the event as the 'first and largest initiative of its kind in the country in terms of the prizes offered.' He said the competition was designed to spread awareness about government schemes while recognising farmers' contributions to the state's economy.
'The objective is to take the message of farmers' welfare to every farm and make farmers more aware of government schemes, while creating a positive environment for the agricultural sector,' Tiwari said.
Who Organised the Event
The initiative was organised jointly by Veer Bharat Nyas, the Directorate of Culture, and the Public Relations Department, in collaboration with the Farmers' Welfare and Agriculture Development Department and the Directorate of Agricultural Engineering. This comes amid the state government's broader push to increase farm-sector awareness and link welfare schemes to ground-level participation ahead of Foundation Day celebrations.
With prize distribution set for 1 November, the event is expected to draw statewide attention to Madhya Pradesh's agriculture outreach model — one that officials say could serve as a template for other states.
