New Delhi, Nov 20 (NationPress) To enhance and standardize the quality of school infrastructure in tribal regions, the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) is convening a two-day workshop featuring 300 engineers from various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Central Public Works Department (CPWD), state governments, and construction agencies starting Friday, as stated by an official on Thursday.
The Secretary of Tribal Affairs, Ranjana Chopra, will kick off the two-day workshop titled "Building Quality Infrastructure for Tribal Education" at Akashvani Bhawan, according to the official statement.
This gathering will unite over 300 engineers from diverse PSUs, CPWD, state governments, and construction firms, as per the official.
The workshop is designed as a capacity-building initiative aimed at accelerating construction progress, particularly by emphasizing best quality practices. The government has set a goal to establish 728 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) nationwide, with 499 currently operational and the remaining schools under construction, as indicated in the statement.
To further encourage sports and athletic excellence among tribal students, the Ministry is also establishing 15 Centres of Excellence for Sports within these EMRSs.
Experts from IITs, NITs, CBRI, and other esteemed organizations have been invited to train field engineers on project planning, execution, and best construction practices, according to the statement.
