Tirupati, Nov 20 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu arrived at the sacred Tirumala hills on Thursday evening to pay her respects at the Sri Venkateswara temple.
Upon her arrival at the Padmavati Rest House in Tirumala, she received a gracious welcome from Vangalapudi Anita, the Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh, along with BR Naidu, Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), and other board members including Panabaka Lakshmi, Janaki Devi, and Bhanuprakash Reddy.
The President is scheduled to have darshan at the temple on Friday morning.
Before her visit to Tirumala, President Murmu offered prayers at the Sri Padmavati Ammavari temple located in Tiruchanoor.
She was greeted by Andhra Pradesh ministers Anam Rama Narayana Reddy and Vangalapudi Anitha, along with TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal and other officials.
Later, the temple priests extended a traditional welcome to the nation’s first citizen.
During her visit, President Murmu prayed at the temple Dhwajasthambham and then had darshan of Sri Padmavati Ammavaru.
Following her prayers, she was presented with Prasadam at the Ashirwada Mandapam and honored with a Sesha Vastram along with a photograph of the deity.
On Friday, after her prayers at the Tirumala temple, the President will head to Hyderabad to inaugurate the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav 2025 at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad.
The second edition of Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav will highlight the vibrant cultural, culinary, and artistic traditions of various states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu.
After an overnight stay at Raj Bhavan, the President will proceed to Puttaparthi in the Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.
She will participate in a special session commemorating the centenary celebration of Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Prasanthi Nilayam.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the centenary celebrations and paid homage to Sathya Sai Baba.
