Patna, March 29 (NationPress) In a major development, the East Champaran Police in Bihar, along with the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), successfully rescued 400 youths from a private placement firm in Motihari on Saturday.

The operation was carried out under the oversight of Raxaul SDPO, following a tip-off received by East Champaran SP Swarn Prabhat.

“We received information regarding youths being held captive by a private placement agency in Motihari. Acting promptly, a joint team of district police and SSB executed a raid on DBR Group and rescued 400 individuals,” SP Swarn Prabhat informed IANS.

The rescued individuals, predominantly under the age of 18, were drawn in by enticing job offers, chiefly in the medical sector, from DBR Group.

Once ensnared, the firm purportedly detained them and coerced their families to pay between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 monthly.

“They had been held for the past four months. The victims come from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Nepal,” Prabhat stated.

The police have taken five individuals linked to DBR Group into custody. Authorities are also collaborating with the Labour Enforcement Officer to initiate legal proceedings against the offenders.

“Numerous such groups are operating fraudulent job schemes under the guise of networking and marketing, extorting money and manipulating individuals. Our team is committed to dismantling these networks,” Prabhat added.

The police are now monitoring similar companies in the district to avert such exploitation in the future.

An FIR has been lodged under applicable sections, and an investigation is currently in progress. This rescue operation has spotlighted the escalating issue of counterfeit placement networks that prey on vulnerable children and families.

Authorities have pledged to take stringent measures to eliminate such operations.
