Chandigarh, Nov 26 (NationPress) Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar expressed strong disapproval of comments made by AAP Minister Aman Arora concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the commemoration of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He demanded a public apology, labeling the remarks as unfounded.
Jakhar characterized Arora's statements as baseless and asserted that not only should Arora apologize, but the entire Aam Aadmi Party should do so for this misleading assertion. He stated, “Aman Arora's assertion that the Prime Minister was not present at the event despite an invitation is entirely false.”
He emphasized that this does not imply any lack of respect from the Prime Minister towards Guru Sahib. In fact, Modi-ji honored Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur-ji’s remarkable sacrifice during a significant event in Kurukshetra, and the Government of India also released a commemorative coin in tribute to this sacred occasion.
Furthermore, Jakhar mentioned a national-level event organized at the Red Fort, where attendees learned about the Guru's extraordinary dedication to upholding religious freedom and humanity. He pointed out that numerous programs were arranged by the Government of India not just nationwide but also on an international scale.
Jakhar stated, “Thus, Aman Arora’s remarks regarding the Prime Minister are unfounded, baseless, and crafted solely for political advantage.” He insisted that Arora should apologize to Modi.
In addition, Jakhar highlighted that the BJP’s state unit conducted a Kirtan Darbar in Anandpur Sahib to honor the 350th martyrdom anniversary, where party leaders collectively bowed and prayed at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib.
He noted that the SGPC had also invited AAP leaders to their event, yet not a single minister or leader from AAP attended. Jakhar questioned, “If you genuinely respect the Guru Sahiban, why did you not partake in this significant SGPC event?”
Jakhar pointed out that AAP’s double standards had been exposed previously on August 26, when Punjab faced flooding, and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was in Tamil Nadu to oversee a breakfast initiative. He remarked that those same leaders later invited the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to this event, who did not participate.
“What will the Chief Minister and Aman Arora respond to this?” Jakhar inquired. The state president noted that all Chief Ministers from other states recognized that such events often carry political intentions and that AAP is leveraging religion for political gain.
“This is why none of them deemed it appropriate to attend, as no responsible leader desires to engage in politics under the guise of religion,” he concluded.
