Adani Ports' Astro Offshore ties up with Oceaneering for deepwater push
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) on Tuesday, 13 May 2025, announced that its maritime subsidiary Astro Offshore has partnered with US-based Oceaneering International Inc. to expand into ultra-deepwater and subsea operations — a significant step in the conglomerate's global offshore growth strategy.
What the Partnership Covers
The agreement targets specialised offshore opportunities in Europe, with a focus on complex subsea engineering projects including underwater construction, pipeline installation, and inspection and maintenance services. By combining Astro Offshore's high-specification fleet with Oceaneering's deepwater engineering and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) expertise, the two companies aim to address a wider spectrum of offshore requirements. The tie-up is designed to strengthen capabilities in operations exceeding 3,000 metres of water depth.
Astro Atlas: The Fleet's New Flagship
Central to the expansion is the induction of Astro Atlas, Astro Offshore's first ultra-deepwater vessel. Formerly known as Energy Savannah, the 97-metre DP2 multipurpose support vessel is equipped with a 150-tonne crane, a secondary crane, a moonpool, and accommodation for up to 100 personnel. The vessel is rated to operate in water depths exceeding 3,000 metres, making it the most capable asset in Astro Offshore's fleet to date.
