Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 26 (NationPress) On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, Ajay Rai, the President of Congress in Uttar Pradesh, ceremonially hoisted the National Flag at the Congress Headquarters situated on Mall Avenue. During this event, he delivered a strong condemnation of the BJP, asserting that its strategy has been to foster divisions and amass power.
While addressing the media, Rai articulated a pointed critique of the ruling party's policies and societal approach.
“The BJP has consistently sought to create divisions and consolidate its power. They have aimed to separate communities, starting with Hindus and Muslims, and now even creating rifts within the Hindu community itself. They have shown a lack of respect for saints and esteemed figures, including Shankaracharya, while vandalizing or concealing statues of historical icons like Ahilyabai Holkar,” Rai stated.
“In Kanpur, two girls were allegedly raped, yet the police officer responsible remains untraceable. Such actions reflect their intention to divide the nation. Nevertheless, Congress members remain dedicated and alert, committed to thwarting these divisive agendas,” he emphasized.
The Republic Day observance was mirrored in other regions, as the working president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress, Raman Bhalla, also raised the National Flag in Jammu earlier that day, highlighting the party's active engagement in national celebrations.
Republic Day, celebrated annually on January 26, marks the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950 and signifies the nation's evolution into a sovereign democratic republic. Across India, political parties, government bodies, cultural organizations, and citizens commemorated the occasion with flag-hoisting ceremonies, patriotic events, cultural showcases, and outreach initiatives that embody national pride and democratic values.
At Republic Day functions nationwide, leaders reiterated messages of unity and constitutional principles.
In New Delhi, the grand parade at Kartavya Path displayed military strength, vibrant tableaux, and cultural performances, honoring India's diversity, heritage, and democratic spirit.
