Wellington, Dec 15 (NationPress) New Zealand's off-spin bowler Ajaz Patel has been named in the squad for the third and final Tegel Test against the West Indies, which begins on Thursday in Mt Maunganui.
Patel replaces Blair Tickner, who suffered a dislocated shoulder while fielding on the boundary during the second Test in Wellington.
The 37-year-old spinner is renowned for his record-breaking achievement of claiming all ten wickets in a Test innings against India at the Wankhede Stadium in 2021. He is poised to potentially play his first Test match on home turf since February 2020.
His most recent Test appearance was during the third Test of New Zealand’s recent tour to India in 2024, where he earned the Player of the Match award with impressive figures of 11 for 160 in a 3–0 series triumph.
