Chandigarh, Nov 24 (NationPress) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has called upon both the Central and Punjab governments to cease their unholy and greedy actions aimed at meddling in Sikh religious matters and seizing control of Sikh institutions and shrines, particularly the revered Takhts of the Khalsa Panth located at Huzoor Sahib and Patna Sahib.
The resolution passed during a special meeting of the party's core committee stated, 'Acts such as the illegal takeover of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) from the Sikh community through deceit and the forced division of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) by establishing a separate entity in Haryana are not the appropriate way to honor the great Guru Sahib, who sacrificed everything to combat religious intrusion and oppression.'
'Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib made an extraordinary and unparalleled sacrifice to prevent governmental interference in the religious beliefs and practices of others. It is profoundly ironic that the governments at the Centre, as well as in Maharashtra, Bihar, and Haryana, are now committing the very sins of religious interference and oppression that the great Guru dedicated his life to fighting.'
'It is astonishing that present-day governments are adopting a mindset reminiscent of Aurangzeb in the homeland of Guru Sahib and against those who adhere to his faith.'
Following the meeting, Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal remarked, 'While the nation pays tribute to the great Guru Sahib, these tributes will only seem genuine if the governments at the Centre and in Bihar, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, and other states cease their ongoing interference in Sikh religious matters and assaults on Sikh religious institutions and sacred Gurdhams.'
Badal further asserted that the recent actions by the Centre to strip Punjab of its rights concerning Chandigarh by designating it as a regular Union Territory, attempts to undermine the democratic structure in Punjab University, and efforts to dilute Punjab's authority over the Bhakra Beas Management Board are gross injustices being inflicted upon Punjab.
He emphasized that Punjab holds an inherent right over Chandigarh, declaring that the Akali Dal will not tolerate any efforts to seize it, demanding that the Union Territory be returned to Punjab.
