Lucknow, March 21 (NationPress) Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has taken a jab at the BJP, proposing that the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government establish a new 'Threat Ministry' to accommodate its MLAs. This comment was made in light of recent incidents involving a BJP MLA from Ghaziabad.
"The esteemed Chief Minister should also consider forming a 'Threat Ministry' to house BJP MLAs in Uttar Pradesh. He already possesses several competent candidates from his party who could serve as ministers in this ministry. However, if he prefers, he could lead this ministry himself, as no one else has greater qualifications and expertise in this particular domain than him," Yadav posted on X on Friday.
Akhilesh Yadav's remarks followed an incident where BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar purportedly had an altercation with police in Ghaziabad concerning a Ram 'Katha yatra'. The MLA allegedly threatened the Chief Secretary and the Commissioner after the incident.
In another post on X, Akhilesh Yadav condemned the suspension of IAS officer Abhishek Prakash, who was embroiled in a corruption scandal, labeling it as a 'theatrical act' and accusing the UP administration of deeper corruption.
He recommended that the BJP modify its slogan to 'Sab Mil Bant, Kare Bantadhar' (Everyone shares, everyone destroys).
"This encapsulates the reality of 'ease of doing business' in Uttar Pradesh, where commissions are openly solicited in the name of industrial growth. When the issues come to light, a 'theatrical act' of suspension is performed," Yadav asserted. "The ultimate destination of this corruption is not the officer but someone else," he emphasized.
The Uttar Pradesh government announced the suspension of the 2006 batch IAS officer Abhishek Prakash on Thursday under its zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
Prakash, who previously served as the District Magistrate of Lucknow and was currently the CEO of ‘Invest UP’, is accused of soliciting a five percent commission from an entrepreneur intending to establish a solar plant.
The entrepreneur reported this demand to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, prompting an investigation by the Special Task Force, which deemed the allegations credible and filed an FIR against Nikant Jain, the alleged intermediary, at the Gomti Nagar police station before his arrest.
Following the investigation, Prakash was suspended and reassigned to the Revenue Board. Prathamesh Kumar has been appointed as the new CEO of ‘Invest UP’.
To date, actions have been taken against 11 IAS officers in the state, with several reinstated post-investigation. According to the terms of his suspension, Abhishek Prakash is prohibited from leaving the headquarters without prior authorization.
