Banaskantha, April 7 (NationPress) The renowned Shaktipeeth of Ambaji temple, located in Gujarat's Banaskantha district, is poised to transform from a mere religious pilgrimage site into a lively tourism hotspot. This shift is driven by an ambitious infrastructure initiative by local authorities.

As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to establish Ambaji as a 'Two-Day Destination', the Gujarat Pilgrimage Development Board has launched the Rs 53.94 crore Rinchhadiya Mahadev Lake Development Project.

Inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Nakki Lake in Mount Abu, this project aims to provide visitors with a unique combination of spirituality and relaxation. Upon completion, devotees traveling to Ambaji will have the opportunity to partake in boating activities, enjoy tranquil lake vistas, and immerse themselves in a rejuvenating natural setting, encouraging a longer stay.

Located around 3 km from Ambaji, the historic Rinchhadiya Mahadev Temple complex, surrounded by stunning hills, is undergoing significant renovations. The development plan includes the construction of a large artificial lake, modern boating amenities, and well-maintained walking paths, ultimately transforming the area into a prominent tourist attraction.

Noteworthy features of the project comprise artistically designed landscaping, musical fountains, and an amphitheatre for cultural events. Furthermore, enhancements such as two new bridges, an arrival plaza, a dedicated food zone, information kiosks, and a visitor center are being established to elevate the overall tourist experience.

Officials have indicated that the overarching aim is to make Ambaji a place where pilgrims can spend a minimum of two days, merging religious reverence with recreational pursuits. Concurrent renovation efforts are also underway at key locations, including the Shakti Corridor and Koteshwar Mahadev Temple, which further bolster the region's tourism infrastructure.

Set against a backdrop of lush hills and natural splendor, this project is anticipated to significantly increase tourist traffic. Additionally, it is expected to create numerous job opportunities for local communities, thereby providing a substantial boost to the rural economy.

The Ambaji Temple, located in Banaskantha, Gujarat, is one of the 51 ancient Shakti Peethas and is believed to be where the heart of Goddess Sati fell. Recognized as a prime pilgrimage destination, particularly on Gabbar Hill, it is notable for not housing a traditional idol but instead featuring a sacred Vishwa Yantra representing the Goddess.
