Patna, Aug 7 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are set to inaugurate the foundation stone of the Mata Janaki Temple at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district tomorrow.
This temple, dedicated to Goddess Sita, represents a monumental religious and cultural endeavor for the Mithila region, often referred to as the "Ayodhya of Bihar".
With an estimated construction cost of Rs 882.87 crore, the temple will be developed over 67 acres, featuring a central sanctum that will rise to 151 feet.
The temple is anticipated to be completed by 2028, with the Bihar Tourism Department leading the development project.
The Bhoomi Pujan is expected to be a grand religious celebration.
Noteworthy arrangements include silver urns from Jaipur, soil from 21 key pilgrimage locations, water from 31 sacred rivers, and 50,000 laddus, which will be sanctified with water from 11 holy rivers, including the Ganga.
The temple is designed to be as spiritually significant and architecturally magnificent as the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
It is intended to serve both as a spiritual center and a cultural hub, showcasing the rich heritage of Mithila.
The temple complex will comprise a Yagya Mandap, museum, auditorium, children's play area, Sita Vatika, Lav-Kush Vatika, Bhajan Sandhya Sthal, dharamshalas, guest houses, Mithila Haat, cafeteria, E-cart station, dormitories, road exhibitions, and parking facilities.
As part of the overall enhancement, the Janaki Kund will also undergo beautification.
The complex will feature exhibits of historical and mythological narratives associated with Mata Sita, providing visitors with both spiritual and cultural enrichment.
Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh remarked on the upcoming ceremony, stating, "Last year in Sitamarhi, Home Minister Amit Shah proclaimed that Ram Mandir has been constructed… now Sitaji's Mandir will rise at Punaura Dham. This is a significant rebuttal to those, particularly from Congress, who dismissed the existence of Lord Ram."
The event is anticipated to attract participation from central and state ministers, esteemed religious figures, and thousands of devotees from Bihar and beyond.
With meticulous security and logistical arrangements underway, Sitamarhi is poised to host one of the most significant religious events in recent history.
