In a landmark announcement, the Chief Minister declared that the medical college under construction in Sitamarhi will be officially named Maa Sita Medical College.

Choudhary said that on the auspicious occasion of Janaki Navami, he offered prayers and sought the blessings of Goddess Sita at the Punauradham Temple in Sitamarhi, describing it as the sacred site of her divine manifestation and a symbol of faith, culture, and glorious heritage.

The Chief Minister also held a review meeting with senior political leaders and administrative officials regarding ongoing religious development projects in the region, signalling a structured governmental push rather than a ceremonial visit alone.

The NDA government in Bihar is actively advancing the construction of a grand temple dedicated to Goddess Sita at Punaura Dham, along with a modern amenity corridor. The Government of India has already announced the ambitious Ram-Janki Ramayan Corridor, which will connect Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh to Sitamarhi in Bihar, linking two of the most significant sites in the Ramayana pilgrimage circuit. A 256-km railway doubling project worth Rs 4,563 crore has been approved to bolster connectivity between these destinations, and an expressway is also being developed in parallel.

The Bihar government had earlier moved to acquire 50 acres of land around the Punaura Dham temple to support expanded tourist infrastructure and facilities, as part of the broader religious tourism strategy.

Since assuming office, Samrat Choudhary has made a visible pattern of visiting prominent religious sites across the region.
