New Delhi, July 30 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Wednesday, criticized the Congress party for placing political ambitions above national security and vividly remembered the tragic moments of the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 innocent tourists were brutally murdered by Pakistani terrorists on April 22.
In a resolute message to terrorists and their backers, Home Minister Shah pledged to make Jammu and Kashmir terrorism-free, emphasizing that the commitment of the Narendra Modi government is to restore peace and stability in the region.
During the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha, the Home Minister recounted that when the Pahalgam massacre occurred, he immediately contacted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visited the site on the same day to assess the situation and express his support to the grieving families.
"I can never forget those painful moments of the April 22 terror attack. I met a woman who became a widow just six days after her marriage and many families who witnessed their loved ones being shot right in front of their eyes. The sorrow and pain of the Pahalgam victims remain vivid in my memory," he stated.
He further noted that there has never been a case where innocent individuals were targeted and killed based on their religion.
"The haunting images of the Pahalgam attack are enough to stir the conscience of everyone, including myself," Home Minister Shah added.
He also criticized the Opposition for questioning the timing of 'Operation Mahadev' and chastised the Congress party for prioritizing political interests over national security.
"Some are questioning why the Pahalgam attackers were neutralized just as Parliament began discussing Operation Sindoor. The entire nation is observing the Congress; their focus has never been on national security but on gaining political leverage, and they prefer undermining our forces rather than praising their bravery," he remarked.
The Home Minister also briefed the House on the prompt actions taken by the Union Cabinet following the Pahalgam attack to ensure justice for the victims and hold Pakistan accountable for its role in promoting terror on Indian soil.
