New Delhi, July 30 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party on Wednesday for placing political ambitions above the nation’s welfare, while reflecting on the tragic events of the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 innocent tourists lost their lives at the hands of Pakistani terrorists on April 22.
Delivering a firm message to terrorists and their backers, Home Minister Shah asserted his commitment to achieving a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that the Narendra Modi government’s longstanding objective is to restore peace and stability in the area.
During the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha, the Home Minister recounted that he contacted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the day of the Pahalgam massacre and visited the site to show his support for the grieving families.
"I will never erase the painful memories of the April 22 terror attack. I encountered a woman who became a widow just six days after her wedding, and many families witnessed their loved ones being shot before their eyes. The suffering of the Pahalgam victims remains vivid in my memory," he stated.
He remarked that there has never been an event where innocent individuals were targeted and killed based on their religion.
"The haunting scenes of the Pahalgam attack can disturb anyone's conscience, including mine," added Home Minister Shah.
He also criticized the Opposition for questioning the timing of Operation Mahadev and reproached the Congress party for prioritizing political gains over national security.
"Some are inquiring why the Pahalgam attackers were neutralized right as Parliament began deliberating on Operation Sindoor. The entire nation observes the Congress; their focus has consistently been on political maneuvering rather than national security, undermining our forces instead of praising their courage," he remarked.
The Home Minister updated the House about the prompt measures taken by the Union Cabinet in response to the Pahalgam attack to ensure that the perpetrators faced justice and to hold Pakistan accountable for instigating terror on Indian soil.
