Did Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Evacuate 476 Citizens from Border States?

Amaravati, May 12 (NationPress) A total of 476 individuals, comprising students and other residents from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, have been successfully evacuated from Jammu and Kashmir and other states bordering Pakistan amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Authorities reported that 350 students from Andhra Pradesh, who were pursuing their education in various institutions across Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, have arrived at AP Bhavan in New Delhi.

Officials from the Andhra Pradesh government indicated that by Saturday night, 91 students had reached AP Bhavan, and this number increased to 350 by Sunday.

Out of these, 90 students have already left for their hometowns across Andhra Pradesh, while 260 remain at AP Bhavan.

To assist the evacuees, Andhra Pradesh's Special Commissioner and other officials at AP Bhavan have organized accommodation, meals, and travel arrangements for all arrivals.

Officials are coordinating with the railway authorities to secure train tickets for these students and are also arranging transportation to both the airport and railway stations.

The AP Bhavan has established a 24×7 Control Room in Delhi to assist individuals from the state currently in border areas. The Resident Commissioner stated that students and other residents can reach out to the Control Room at 011-23387089, 9871999430, or 9871999053.

Simultaneously, the Telangana government announced that 126 individuals from border states have reached Telangana Bhavan so far, including 91 who arrived on Sunday.

The evacuees consist of 50 students from NIT Srinagar, faculty and students from the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences, employees based in J&K, and students from Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab, among others residing or studying in border regions.

Out of the 126 individuals who have arrived thus far, 57 have already returned to their hometowns after receiving necessary assistance, while the remaining are being accommodated at Telangana Bhavan.

Officials at Telangana Bhavan continue to provide comprehensive support to citizens returning from border areas.

All returnees are being offered complimentary meals, lodging, medical assistance, and transportation for their onward journeys. Coordination is being maintained with district administrations and central authorities to ensure the smooth movement and safety of all citizens, as stated by Telangana Bhavan.

Resident Commissioner Dr. Gaurav Uppal is personally overseeing the operations and readiness to receive additional arrivals.
