Bhopal, Dec 12 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated on Friday that throughout his two-year tenure, the government has prioritized significant governance reforms. This includes a systematic annual review of departmental performance and the establishment of new targets for the upcoming years.
During a press conference at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre, Yadav presented his government's two-year report card, emphasizing the importance of evaluating departmental progress, particularly in the context of budget preparation.
With the completion of two years in office, he underscored the necessity to assess achievements and set fresh objectives for the next three years.
“Typically, reviews are conducted before the annual budget. As we approached the two-year milestone, I believed it was crucial to evaluate our work thus far and also establish new targets for the upcoming three years,” he remarked.
Yadav also pointed out efforts made to enhance coordination between departments working on similar issues. For instance, he mentioned the integration of the Health and Family Welfare Department with the Medical Education Department, which has expedited decision-making processes and project approvals.
“Consequently, we have significantly improved health infrastructure over the past two years. The number of medical colleges has surged from 12 to 31, with numerous others on the horizon,” he added.
The Chief Minister outlined a three-year departmental roadmap with distinct thematic priorities. The year 2024-25 is dedicated to women’s empowerment; 2025-26 focuses on industrial development; and 2026-27 is centered on agriculture and farmers’ welfare.
He mentioned that with backing from the Centre, the state has crafted an extensive plan aimed at expanding irrigation coverage to 100 lakh hectares by 2028-29. However, he emphasized that merely increasing irrigation potential is insufficient unless production is connected to value addition and income sources.
“The Ken-Betwa and Chambal-Tapti-Sindh river-linking projects are crucial for expanding irrigation. Simultaneously, we are establishing agro-based industries to ensure value addition and increased income for farmers,” he stated.
Yadav reaffirmed that Madhya Pradesh has experienced “a remarkable transformation” since 2003, now ranking among the top 10 states in India.
“We are making strides in every sector, positioning Madhya Pradesh as the true heart of India with vast potential in agriculture, industry, tourism, and human development,” he concluded.
Present at the press conference were Deputy Chief Ministers Jagdish Devda (Finance) and Rajendra Shukla (Health), State BJP president Hemant Khandelwal, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, along with other senior officials.
