Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) Arshdeep Singh, India's left-arm fast bowler, credited the team’s commitment to process and self-belief as pivotal to their success in the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup held on home ground. He expressed that the team is now targeting the achievement of multiple trophies over the next decade.
India secured their title with a resounding 96-run victory against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, marking a historic moment as the first team to not only defend their title but also to win the trophy three times and do so on home soil.
“After our previous T20 World Cup win in 2024, many of us, including Hardik (Pandya) bhai, committed to winning a minimum of five trophies in the next ten years,” Arshdeep stated.
“Our main objective was clear, and we were confident that if we maintained our performance standards, success would follow. We adhered to our process and supported our gameplay,” he added, having taken nine wickets across eight matches with an economy rate of 8.46, in a video shared by bcci.tv on Thursday.
He also highlighted the enjoyment of bowling alongside Jasprit Bumrah, who emerged as the tournament's joint leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets. “Bowling with him is a lot of fun. For him, cricket seems effortless, almost like a video game. His dedication to his process is inspiring and pushes us all to strive harder,” Arshdeep remarked.
Expressing gratitude, he thanked the fans for their unwavering support throughout their victorious journey. “Your love has been overwhelming, especially during tough matches when you stood by us. Thank you so much for this,” concluded Arshdeep, who is set to represent Punjab Kings in IPL 2026.
