Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) Former Delhi Minister and BJP representative from Gandhi Nagar, Arvinder Singh Lovely, expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for acknowledging the historical significance and sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus.
In a heartfelt video statement, the five-time Sikh MLA remarked, “Having been involved in politics for many years, I can say that PM Modi is the first leader to truly honor the sacrifices made by the Sikh Gurus.”
From the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur to the heroic stories of Guru Gobind Singh and his sons, PM Modi incorporates rich details of Sikh heritage and history in his speeches.
“The purpose of my video is to highlight PM Modi’s mention of ‘Veer Bal Diwas’, which commemorates the sacrifices of the sons of Guru Gobind Singh, during the NDA meeting attended by leaders nationwide,” he stated.
Lovely expressed that he was moved by PM Modi’s appeal to mothers to share with their children the stories of the sacrifices made by the young disciples of the Guru, celebrated on ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ every December 26.
“For the first time since our nation’s independence, a Prime Minister has sincerely acknowledged the sacrifices of the Sikh community. I appreciate him for enlightening the public about the true history of our country,” he remarked.
‘Veer Bal Diwas’ honors the courage of two young Sikh warriors who chose martyrdom over converting their faith despite intense pressure.
Lovely’s statements were made following a visit by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her Cabinet Ministers to the sacred city of Amritsar, where they prayed for the welfare of the city’s residents.
“We have been granted the privilege to serve the people of Delhi by the great grace of the Guru,” she stated, bowing at Sri Harmandir Sahib and expressing her gratitude at Darbar Sahib on Monday.
The Chief Minister mentioned that it was solely due to the Guru’s blessings that her administration successfully organized a three-day ‘Gurmat Samagam’ last month at the historic Red Fort lawns, marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, as per the announcement.
Previously, the Delhi government declared November 25 a public holiday to honor the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, whose unparalleled dedication to faith and human dignity is commemorated nationwide with profound respect.
Initially designated as a restricted holiday, the date was elevated to a full public holiday, facilitating citizens to engage in commemorative events and pay tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur’s legacy.
