New Delhi, Nov 25 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed on Tuesday that the sacrifice of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the esteemed ninth Sikh guru, for safeguarding faith and humanity will eternally shine a light on society.
Known as 'Hind ki Chadar' and the 'Shield of India', Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is celebrated as a hero and martyr in Sikhism, with his sacrifice honored on this significant day. He bravely defended the rights of Kashmiri Pandits and other Hindus who faced persecution by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
Born in Amritsar, Punjab, in 1621, he was executed in 1675 in Delhi.
In a post shared on X, PM Modi stated, "On the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, we bow in reverence to his unparalleled courage and sacrifice. His martyrdom for the protection of faith and humanity will forever illuminate our society."
In a video message, he remarked, "The sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji has inspired countless generations of this nation to remain steadfast and to defend their culture and honor. Despite facing great persecutions and challenges, India stands undeterred and continues to progress."
"Today, the world looks to India once again to guide the way for humanity. We can sense the blessings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in this new India," he continued.
Later today, the Prime Minister will travel to Haryana to engage in a series of important cultural and spiritual events aimed at honoring the legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur and celebrating the rich heritage of the state.
To commemorate the Guru's message of penance, sacrifice, and glorious legacy, the Haryana government and the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee are celebrating the 350th martyrdom anniversary in Jyotisar, where the Prime Minister will participate in the ceremony.
During the program, the Prime Minister will unveil a special coin and a commemorative stamp marking the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of the revered Guru. He will also address the attendees during the occasion.
