Guwahati, March 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed his warm congratulations on Monday to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominees Jogen Mohan, Teroes Gowala, and Pramod Boro, following their unopposed election to the Rajya Sabha from Assam.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the Chief Minister conveyed his “heartiest congratulations and best wishes” to the trio, emphasizing his belief that they will proficiently advocate for the welfare of Assam in the Upper House of Parliament.
“My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to our NDA representatives Shri Jogen Mohan, Shri Teroes Gowala, and Shri Pramod Boro on their unopposed election to the Rajya Sabha from Assam,” CM Sarma stated in his Monday update.
He further expressed his trust that the newly elected members will address the issues concerning Assam and its populace in Parliament, while also supporting the broader objectives of the Union government.
“I have confidence they will diligently champion the causes of Assam in the Upper House and continue to advocate for our state’s residents while backing the nationalistic and developmental agenda of our Union government in Parliament,” remarked the Chief Minister.
The three NDA nominees were elected without opposition as no candidates from the Opposition submitted nominations for the Rajya Sabha positions from Assam, demonstrating the alliance’s robust standing in the state Legislative Assembly.
Jogen Mohan, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former minister in the Assam government, has been actively involved in the party’s organizational and political initiatives in the state.
Teroes Gowala, also a member of the BJP, has been a prominent political figure representing the tea garden community, which constitutes a significant demographic in Assam.
Meanwhile, Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), represents a regional ally of the BJP within the NDA coalition.
Their election without opposition is anticipated to bolster the NDA’s representation from Assam in the Rajya Sabha, reaffirming the alliance’s commitment to addressing the state’s developmental goals and regional concerns at the national level.
