Guwahati, March 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, convened a meeting with district commissioners to assess significant government initiatives on Tuesday. Taking to X, Sarma stated: “I have just wrapped up the inaugural conference of District Commissioners and Co-District Commissioners. This serves as an excellent platform for a comprehensive governmental approach to key flagship programs, ensuring effective last-mile delivery. This meeting follows the recent #AssamBudget2025, during which I directed our administration to implement all budgetary commitments and expand upon the successes of #AdvantageAssam2.”
During a series of discussions, the Assam government identified several vital areas of focus aimed at expediting development and enhancing welfare efforts throughout the state.
The meeting underscored progress in social welfare initiatives, housing projects, and public health strategies.
Sarma remarked: “Our state administration is dedicated to boosting financial assistance for pregnant women in the state's tea gardens. This program is designed to improve maternal healthcare and tackle the economic challenges faced by tea garden communities. By offering financial support, the government aims to lower maternal mortality rates and enhance the overall well-being of these vulnerable groups.”
The meeting also highlighted the urgency of accelerating the geo-tagging process under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
Geo-tagging promotes transparency and enables real-time tracking of housing initiatives. Speeding up this process will aid in the identification and completion of homes for eligible beneficiaries, ensuring quicker access to housing for underprivileged families.
“The state government has prioritized the prompt implementation of Mission Basundhara 3.0, aimed at addressing land-related matters. The focus is to expedite land ownership verification, digitization of land records, and associated services. This time-sensitive approach is intended to provide citizens with faster resolutions to their land issues,” the CM explained.
Furthermore, to guarantee effective execution of welfare schemes such as the Orunodoi scheme and the Chief Minister Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, the government is streamlining processes.
“Additionally, the distribution of 5 lakh gamosas, a representation of Assamese pride and culture, will be carried out systematically to honor Assam's cultural heritage,” he concluded.
