Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, 15 July underscored that a skilled and empowered youth is the bedrock of both Viksit Assam and Viksit Bharat, outlining a series of state-led initiatives to build a robust skill and industry-linked training ecosystem. His remarks came on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, observed globally on 15 July each year.

Key Initiatives Driving Skill Development

The state government has introduced skill education in more than 1,700 schools across Assam, significantly widening the reach of vocational training at the foundational level. Alongside this, industry-linked training programmes are being expanded to close the gap between classroom learning and real-world employment requirements.

Assam Skill University and other dedicated skill development institutions are central to this effort, preparing the state's youth for opportunities across emerging sectors. 'Through skill education in over 1,700 schools, industry-linked training programmes and institutions such as Assam Skill University, Assam is creating a strong ecosystem that equips youth with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a changing world,' CM Sarma said in a social media post.
