Guwahati, Jan 17 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a review of the final rehearsal for ‘Bagurumba Dwhou’ at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex in Sarusajai, Guwahati, affirming that the state is set to showcase the graceful Bagurumba dance of the Bodo community on a global platform, according to officials.
During his interaction with the performers at the rehearsal, Sarma praised their month-long commitment, discipline, and effort, stating that following the international acclaim received by Mega Bihu and Jhumoir, Assam is on the verge of marking another significant milestone in its cultural narrative.
Sarma characterized ‘Bagurumba Dwhou’ as a monumental cultural gathering that will add a remarkable chapter to Assam’s extensive heritage. Officials revealed that over 10,000 artistes from various regions of the state will unite to perform Bagurumba during this grand occasion, which will also be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chief Minister emphasized that this extensive performance not only embodies the rhythm, elegance, and artistic beauty of the Bodo community but also represents Assam’s enduring ethos of unity amid diversity.
In a show of support, Sarma announced incentives for participants. Each performer will receive two proficiency certificates at the district level along with an honorarium of Rs 25,000 as recognition and encouragement.
