Quetta, Jan 9 (NationPress) In light of the escalating violence against civilians in Balochistan, a prominent human rights organization has reported yet another instance of enforced disappearance, claiming that a Baloch youth was apprehended by Pakistani security forces, which raises significant concerns surrounding human rights violations in this conflicted area.
Expressing condemnation over this incident, Paank, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, revealed that Umar Baloch was taken from his home located in the Mand Koh region of the Kech district on Thursday.
According to local sources, the operation was executed by personnel of the Pakistan Army, who entered the residence during the night and abducted Umar without any legal warrant, providing no information about his current location.
Paank has called for the immediate revelation of Umar’s whereabouts, his unconditional release, and his swift presentation before a competent judicial authority.
“We urge both national and international human rights organizations to take notice of this case and hold responsible parties accountable for their violations of human rights and international legal standards,” emphasized the rights group.
Earlier that same day, another organization, Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ), condemned the increasing incidents of enforced disappearances in Balochistan and other regions.
“These actions represent serious human rights violations and appear to be part of a systematic effort to suppress the Baloch populace,” the organization stated.
In its report, the BVJ highlighted the recent enforced disappearances of five civilians by Pakistani forces throughout Balochistan, describing these actions as a continuation of severe human rights abuses in the province and surrounding areas.
The BVJ has called upon the international community, human rights organizations, and Pakistani courts to address these occurrences, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure the immediate release of all missing individuals.
On Wednesday, Paank also condemned the extrajudicial killing of another Baloch civilian, Zareef Baloch, from the Awaran District, by Pakistani security forces.
According to the rights body, Zareef’s body, riddled with bullets, was recovered on January 6 from the Nondara area of Awaran, after being missing for over three months.
Paank reported that Zareef, a resident of the Siahkal Malar area in Awaran, was forcibly disappeared on September 29, 2025, when security forces raided his home and took him into custody.
The organization holds the Pakistani security forces accountable for this grave crime, emphasizing that it forms part of the ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.
“Such acts are serious violations of international human rights law, including the right to life and the prohibition of enforced disappearance,” stated Paank.
