Quetta, April 10 (NationPress) In a significant escalation of violence, Pakistani forces faced a surprise attack in Turbat, Balochistan, where a local Baloch armed group had previously set up a road blockade, leading to considerable losses, according to reports from local media.

As per The Balochistan Post, the ambush transpired on Thursday following a three-hour blockade on the outskirts of Turbat, after which the group seized control of a nearby police post along with its armaments.

A military convoy, consisting of six vehicles, was ambushed in close proximity to the Mashallah Hotel, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire that lasted more than 40 minutes.

During this confrontation, military drones were also engaged, causing casualties and damage, although the exact extent remains unverified.

The armed group is reported to have damaged a communication tower and two surveillance cameras located near the Shahdad Hotel in the vicinity.

In other incidents, these Baloch militants performed snap-checks in the Dasht area of Mastung district, establishing another blockade.

Moreover, a gas pipeline close to the Sibi Teaching Hospital was reportedly compromised in an explosion, disrupting gas supplies in the surrounding area.

In light of the increasing aggression towards Pakistani forces, a military camp in the Mastung district was also struck by a series of drone attacks on Thursday evening.

The strikes targeted a facility at Maro Kund in the Spilinji area, utilizing multiple drones for the operation, as reported by The Balochistan Post, referencing sources.

While reports indicate that this attack unfolded quickly and resulted in casualties among Pakistani troops, the full extent of the losses has yet to be independently confirmed.

This incident follows a previous drone strike on a military camp in Kalat district, for which the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility, amidst a wave of coordinated assaults across Balochistan.

The recent days have seen a surge in attacks on Pakistani military and police personnel by Baloch militant groups, leading to significant casualties and infrastructural damage.

Simultaneously, Balochistan is grappling with ongoing human rights violations by Pakistani forces, characterized by enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch civilians at an alarming rate.
