Jaipur, March 11 (NationPress) An individual from Bangladesh who reportedly crossed into India without authorization a decade ago has been apprehended by the Ajmer Police in Rajasthan, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.

The police are currently interrogating the detained person.

As part of a specialized operation, numerous Bangladeshis were taken into custody previously. This latest arrest brings the total number of detained Bangladeshis to 18.

The in-charge of the Dargah police station, Dinesh Jeevani, stated that police headquarters had issued orders to identify and take action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and other intruders. Following these directives, a dedicated task force was established under the supervision of Ajmer SP Vandita Rana to carry out the operation.

During the mission, the task force conducted searches in the Dargah region and questioned individuals who appeared suspicious.

One suspect could not provide convincing answers during the inquiry, leading the police to intervene.

The apprehended individual, identified as Mohammad Saroj a.k.a. Rippon (48), a resident of Dhaka, was subsequently arrested. During questioning, Rippon confessed that he had illegally entered India by crossing the border nearly ten years ago.

Since then, he has been living in the Dargah area as a nomad. His interrogation is ongoing.

Jeevani confirmed that a total of 18 nationals from Bangladesh have been detained in this operation, and the crackdown will persist moving forward.

A special initiative has been undertaken in Ajmer to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi citizens and other intruders.

As part of an extensive crackdown, police carried out raids in critical areas and other suspected hiding spots. Utilizing intelligence from informants and advanced technical surveillance, the team successfully captured multiple suspects.

During interrogations, those arrested admitted to illegally entering India and living as nomads in the Dargah area. So far, the police have apprehended 17 illegal Bangladeshi nationals.

The most recent detainees include Mohammad Rana, Sapna, Salma, Yasin Khan, Shakoor Ali, and Iman Sheikh, all from various districts in Bangladesh. Police officials have reiterated their commitment to continuing this operation. Strict measures will be enforced against illegal Bangladeshi citizens once their identities are confirmed.
