Bhopal, June 5 (NationPress) The enigma surrounding the recent incidents of unknown animal bites seems to be approaching clarity with the discovery of a jackal carcass located near Limbai village in the Rajpur tehsil of Barwani district.
Despite this development, anxiety prevails in Sendhwa village following a renewed series of animal attacks on Wednesday.
Residents are on high alert, even though medical assessments confirmed that the latest attack involved a dog and not a wild animal.
Eight individuals were attacked and suffered serious bites, with four being transferred to Maharaja Yashwant Rao Holkar Medical College and Hospital in Indore for advanced treatment.
Images of injured children raise concerns about the severity of the injuries attributed to a dog. Following an animal attack in Kermala, located in Varla tehsil of Barwani district, four new patients have arrived in Indore.
The victims encompass Ritika, aged four, Kajal, also four, Rishika, seven, and Aarti, 45. Their families describe the event as profoundly distressing, casting a pall of unease over the village, even in daylight.
According to relatives, the attack took place on Wednesday, June 4, when an unidentified animal suddenly targeted the victims.
Initially, they were taken to Sendhwa hospital before being shifted to MY Hospital in Indore later that night for further medical care.
Dr. Jitendra Verma, deputy superintendent of MY Hospital Indore, verified that four new cases arrived on Wednesday, all confirmed to be dog bites.
Three of the victims, all children, were discharged after receiving anti-rabies vaccinations and initial treatment, while Aarti remains under observation in stable condition.
Dr. Verma also noted that seven individuals had previously been admitted following the unknown animal attack.
Two remain under medical care, one tragically succumbed to injuries during treatment, while three have already been discharged. Another patient chose to self-discharge.
He assured that those still receiving care are stable and asymptomatic. Despite these reassurances, fear lingers among the villagers.
Dr. Ankita Singare, civil surgeon of Barwani district hospital, stated that two patients from an earlier attack were seen on Thursday, both stable but expressing weakness. She confirmed that no new cases of unknown animal bites have been reported since May 5, when an unidentified animal attacked 18 individuals in Limbai village.
Sub-divisional magistrate of Barwani, Bhupendra Rawat, emphasized that no new cases have surfaced in Rajpur tehsil.
The recent incidents in Varla village of Sendhwa have been confirmed as dog bites, yet the community remains apprehensive.
He reiterated that the animal responsible for the May 5 attack is deceased and its remains have been disposed of, expressing hope that the prevailing fear will soon dissipate.
