Bharat Tex 2026 opens in New Delhi with 6,000 buyers from 130 nations
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh on Tuesday, 14 July 2026 inaugurated Bharat Tex 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, launching what organisers describe as the world's largest integrated textile value chain event, with exhibitors from more than 14 countries including the US, Europe, and Japan. The four-day event has drawn more than 6,000 buyers from over 130 countries and more than 1.3 lakh trade visitors, spread across 1.6 million square feet of exhibition space.
Key Developments at the Inauguration
Addressing delegates at the opening ceremony, Giriraj Singh said that Bharat Tex has, within just three editions, evolved into a globally recognised platform for trade, investment, innovation, and policy dialogue. He credited the event's rapid rise to the confidence the global textile industry has placed in India's manufacturing capabilities and long-term growth potential.
Singh also invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 5F Vision — from 'Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign' — framing Bharat Tex as a structural enabler of that roadmap, connecting Indian enterprise with international markets and embedding India deeper into global textile value chains.
India-France Partnership Signed at the Event
A significant milestone at the inauguration was the exchange of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Bharat Tex Trade Federation (BTTF) and Premiere Vision Paris, one of the world's foremost textile and fashion sourcing platforms. The LoI was signed by Florence Rousson, Chief Executive Officer of Premiere Vision SA's Fashion Division, and Naren Goenka, BTTF Chairman.
The partnership covers three areas: an exhibition collaboration between Bharat Tex and Premiere Vision Paris; joint export promotion to raise the visibility of Indian and French manufacturers in European and global markets; and a Joint Steering Committee to oversee implementation. Singh described the tie-up as 'another significant step in positioning Bharat Tex as a truly global platform,' adding that it would help Indian MSMEs and first-time exporters connect with leading European buyers.
Scale and International Representation
International exhibitors from 14 countries — including the US, the UK, Japan, Portugal, Spain, New Zealand, South Korea, South Africa, and Nepal — are participating, alongside institutional delegations from the United Nations and the European Union. Key industry sponsors include Trident, Vardhman Textiles, RSWM, Shahi Exports, Colorjet, Arvind, and PDS Limited.
The event features more than 20,000 textile products and will host over 350 speakers, including international experts, CXOs, policymakers, and thought leaders from more than 20 countries, supported by a dedicated International Pavilion for structured cross-border engagement.
Bilateral Sessions and Cluster Showcases
Special bilateral sessions are scheduled across the four days, covering the India-US cotton partnership, the India-New Zealand wool ecosystem, the India-UK Free Trade Agreement in action, a dedicated Japan delegation engagement, and Russia-focused textile discussions. Business delegations from the UAE, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and several other nations are also expected.
Bharat Tex 2026 additionally showcases India's renowned textile clusters — Tirupur, Ichalkaranji, and Ahmedabad — spanning the full spectrum from fibres, yarns, and fabrics to technical textiles, handlooms, handicrafts, and machinery. As Bharat Tex enters its third edition, the event's expanding footprint signals India's accelerating ambition to anchor itself at the centre of global textile sourcing.
