Ayodhya, Sep 5 (NationPress) Bhutan's Prime Minister Daso Tshering Tobgay is currently on a four-day visit to India and made a significant stop at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya on Friday, where he offered prayers to Ram Lalla. Accompanying him was his wife, Tashi Doma.
This visit is noteworthy as it marks the first time a Prime Minister from a foreign country has paid respects to Ram Lalla at this revered site.
The Ministry of External Affairs took to social media to share images from their visit, highlighting this as a 'historic first.'
During their stay of approximately an hour and 40 minutes, the couple prayed at the temple, Ram Darbar, Hanumangarhi Temple, and toured other significant sites including Kuber Teela, Jatayu, and Sapta Mandapam. They also observed the temple's ongoing construction.
Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, warmly welcomed the Bhutanese Prime Minister and his wife, offering them a guided tour of the temple.
The couple expressed their admiration for the temple's grandeur, capturing memorable photographs during their visit.
They particularly appreciated the intricate murals around the lower plinth and the bronze artwork adorning the rampart walls. PM Tobgay paid respects to Ram Lalla with three bows and accepted the prasad following the aarti.
Earlier in the day, the Bhutanese PM, alongside senior officials, arrived at Ayodhya airport aboard a special flight from the Indian Air Force. They were greeted by Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi, MLA Ved Prakash Gupta, and various senior administrative and police officials.
Prime Minister Tobgay and his spouse are on an official visit to India from September 3 to 6.
