Ayodhya, Sep 12 (NationPress) The sacred city of Ayodhya experienced a momentous occasion as Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, along with his wife Veena Ramgoolam and a delegation of 30 members, offered prayers at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple on Friday.
Dr. Ramgoolam became the second state leader, following Bhutan's Prime Minister, to visit and pay homage to Ram Lalla at this magnificent temple.
The Prime Minister arrived at Maharishi Valmiki International Airport around noon, where he received a warm welcome from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
In adherence to the tradition of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’, CM Yogi presented him with flowers, a souvenir, and a red-carpet reception, accompanied by the chanting of mantras, 'Kalash-Aarti', and the resonating sounds of drums and conch shells, enveloping the atmosphere in spirituality.
Following this, the high-security convoy proceeded directly to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. There, Dr. Ramgoolam and his wife performed aarti and prayed before Ram Lalla, dedicating nearly half an hour to their devotion. They also took note of the ongoing temple construction efforts.
Bowing his head, the visiting leader sought Lord Ram’s blessings for the prosperity of his people and for strengthening the bond between India and Mauritius.
A short film, lasting two minutes, was showcased to the delegation, highlighting the grandeur, craftsmanship, and progress of the temple construction, narrated in detail by CDO Krishna Kumar Singh.
Later, CM Yogi presented Dr. Ramgoolam with a model of the Ram temple, while his wife, Veena Ramgoolam, was honored with a traditional angavastra.
Expressing his joy at visiting the holy land of Ayodhya, Dr. Ramgoolam stated that he felt a profound connection with Lord Ram and described the welcome as “unforgettable”.
CM Yogi characterized the visit as a “living symbol of cultural unity between India and Mauritius.”
He emphasized that the relationship between the two nations extends beyond mere diplomacy, rooted in shared cultural and spiritual traditions. With a significant Indian-origin population, Mauritius continues to celebrate Ramayana traditions through festivals, literature, and everyday cultural practices.
Throughout the visit, stringent security measures were implemented, with police, ATS teams, and CCTV monitoring the route and temple premises.
