New Delhi, Sep 13 (NationPress) The visit of Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya showcases the profound civilizational and interpersonal connections shared between India and Mauritius, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
During this visit, he was joined by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
In a post shared on X, the MEA stated, "PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam of Mauritius sought blessings at the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra in Ayodhya. This highlights the strong civilizational and interpersonal ties that link India and Mauritius."
Following the tradition of 'Atithi Devo Bhava', CM Yogi greeted him with flowers, a souvenir, and a warm reception that included the recitation of mantras, 'Kalash-Aarti', along with the rhythmic sounds of drums and conch shells that created a spiritually charged atmosphere.
The office of the Mauritian PM also shared on social media that Ramgoolam’s visits to various temples in Uttar Pradesh signify the shared cultural connections between the two nations.
"From the sacred ghats of Kashi Vishwanath Mandir to the holy grounds of Ayodhya, Navin Ramgoolam’s spiritual journey alongside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is a testament to the enduring ties of culture and belief," they noted.
Previously, Ramgoolam prayed at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
"PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam of Mauritius paid respects at the revered Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi. This visit illustrates the deep cultural and civilizational ties connecting India and Mauritius," the MEA posted on X.
Additionally, Ramgoolam experienced the Ganga Aarti in Varanasi on Thursday evening.

Prime Minister Ramgoolam arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday for an eight-day state visit to India.
On Thursday, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi. The two leaders discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and expressed their commitment to enhancing partnerships in sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, digital technology, energy, maritime security, and more.
