On September 12, Ramgoolam, with his wife Veena Ramgoolam and a 30-member delegation, prayed at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. His visit marked him as the second Head of State after Bhutan's Prime Minister to worship Ram Lalla at this grand temple.
During this trip, he received a heartfelt reception from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who welcomed him with garlands, a souvenir, and a ceremonial red-carpet greeting, complemented by the chanting of mantras, 'Kalash-Aarti', and the resonating sounds of drums and conch shells that filled the air with spirituality.
The Mauritius PM and his wife engaged in aarti and prayed before Ram Lalla, spending about half an hour in devotion. They also took the opportunity to observe the ongoing temple construction work.
Last week, Navinchandra Ramgoolam offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel.
Sharing images on X, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted, "PM Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam of Mauritius offered prayers at the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, a visit that reflects the profound cultural and civilizational ties uniting India and Mauritius."
On September 11, Ramgoolam also witnessed the Ganga Aarti on the ghats of Varanasi. During his eight-day visit to India, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 11, during which both leaders reviewed various aspects of their bilateral cooperation.
