New Delhi, Sep 5 (NationPress) The External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar engaged with Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay in New Delhi on Friday, extending the warm regards of Prime Minister Narendra Modi while commending the distinct and enduring relationship shared between the two countries.

Post their discussion, EAM Jaishankar shared on X, "I am pleased to have met PM Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan this evening. I conveyed the heartfelt greetings of PM Narendra Modi. Our distinct and enduring partnership continues to grow stronger. I expressed my gratitude for his leadership and guidance."

Earlier that day, PM Tshering Tobgay, along with his wife Tashi Doma, visited the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, where they offered their prayers to Ram Lalla.

This visit is particularly notable, as Tshering Tobgay is the first Prime Minister from any foreign nation to pay respects at the Ram Lalla shrine.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared photographs from their visit to this sacred site, labeling it a historic first. Tobgay and his wife are on an official trip to India from September 3 to 6.

During their approximately one hour and 40 minutes stay at the temple complex, the couple offered prayers at the Ram temple, Ram Darbar, Hanumangarhi Temple, and also visited the temples of Kuber Teela, Jatayu, and Sapta Mandapam. They were able to observe the ongoing construction as well.

While posting about the visit on X, Jaiswal remarked, "In a historic first, PM Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan visited the Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya today."

Earlier, the Bhutanese PM, along with senior officials, arrived at Ayodhya airport via a special flight organized by the Indian Air Force. They were received by Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi, MLA Ved Prakash Gupta, and other senior administrative and police officials.
