"Had a great conversation with my good friend, PM Tobgay. India’s friendship with Bhutan is strong. We are working together in numerous sectors," PM Modi shared on X after the meeting.
This meeting facilitated a dialogue aimed at strengthening the Indo-Bhutan friendship.
Expressing his contentment, Tobgay also took to social media and stated, "Always a pleasure to meet my elder brother and mentor PM Narendra Modi ji. Discussed BIMSTEC, enhancing regional cooperation, and furthering Bhutan-India friendship."
The two leaders had previously met in February when Tobgay visited New Delhi to partake in the inaugural Leadership Conclave of the School of Ultimate Leadership (SOUL).
PM Modi had assured New Delhi's focus on enhancing the unique and historical partnership between both nations.
India and Bhutan share an exemplary relationship founded on trust, goodwill, and mutual understanding at all levels. The visit of the Prime Minister of Bhutan is consistent with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Bhutan, a hallmark of their special partnership.
Last year, PM Modi visited Bhutan, highlighting the close ties of friendship and cooperation based on mutual trust, goodwill, and understanding between the two nations.
The joint statement titled 'Bharat and Bhutan: Together for Progress and Development', released during the visit, emphasized that common cultural links and geography connect India with Bhutan, while strong economic and financial ties bind both countries.
"The enduring partnership between our two nations is rooted in our common values and our shared cultural and spiritual heritage. Bharat for Bhutan and Bhutan for Bharat is a lasting truth of the region, nurtured by the enlightened vision of successive Druk Gyalpos of Bhutan and the political leadership in both countries," the statement read.
"Since Bhutan's First Five-Year Plan in 1961, India's development partnership with Bhutan has empowered the people and ensured progress across various sectors. Our development partnership reflects India's approach of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas' and Bhutan's philosophy of Gross National Happiness," the statement further noted.
