New Delhi, Aug 6 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has laid out its detailed strategy for the forthcoming Bihar State Assembly Elections scheduled for 2025.
The ECI is currently engaged in a revision of the state's electoral rolls, a constitutional requirement that precedes every election. To ensure the public remains adequately informed, the commission consistently publishes press releases and advertisements.
In a groundbreaking initiative for any state, Bihar has set a maximum limit of 1,200 electors per polling booth to mitigate long waiting times. This has resulted in a remarkable increase in polling stations, from 77,895 to 90,712. Correspondingly, the number of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) has also been raised from 77,895 to 90,712 to accommodate this enhancement.
To further aid voters, the number of volunteers has been significantly amplified, growing from 100,000 to nearly 400,000. Additionally, all 12 recognized political parties in Bihar have also expanded their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from 138,680 to 160,813.
The ECI has been diligently working to guarantee the precision of the voter lists. Lists of electors marked as deceased, permanently relocated, or with duplicate votes, as well as those who could not be reached after a minimum of three visits by BLOs, have been shared with all political parties and their BLAs by July 20.
The booth-wise Draft Electoral Roll was released on August 1 and made accessible to all political parties.
The draft list is available for viewing on the official ECI website. The ECI continues to provide timely updates on the status of claims and objections via daily bulletins, with the latest bulletin dated August 6.
