Patna, April 6 (NationPress) A devastating event in Samastipur district has plunged the local community into mourning as three siblings from one family tragically drowned in the Kareh River on Monday.

This unfortunate occurrence unfolded in the Shivajinagar block, close to the Bariyahi Ghat bridge. Reports indicate that the children entered the river but were rapidly engulfed by powerful currents, preventing their return to safety.

Upon notification of the incident, local administration officials and rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene. An extensive search operation commenced, utilizing divers and the SDRF team to locate the missing children.

Initially, two bodies were recovered from the river, with the third being retrieved later after considerable effort.

The victims have been identified as Aditya Kumar Jha (15), Harshnath Kumar Jha (13), and Kartik Kumar Jha (11), all sons of Sudarshan Jha, who resides in Boraj village within Parsa Panchayat.

In light of the tragedy, local officials—including Circle Officer Manish Chaudhary, BDO Alok Kumar Singh, and Shivajinagar SHO Ravindra Kumar—arrived at the site to supervise the rescue and relief operations.

This heartbreaking incident has cast a profound shadow of sorrow over the village. The loss of three children from a single family has left the community in disbelief, while the grieving family faces unimaginable pain. An atmosphere of mourning engulfs the area as residents struggle to cope with the tragic loss.

In a separate incident on the same day, a road accident in Jehanabad district has further shaken the region, underscoring the perils of reckless driving.

The mishap occurred near the Tehta Bypass on National Highway-22, where a runaway Scorpio collided with a motorcycle carrying a family.

The impact of the collision was so intense that a man and his young daughter lost their lives instantly, while his wife suffered severe injuries and is currently fighting for her life.

As reported, the deceased has been identified as Shravan Kumar, who lived in Saren village. He was returning home from Tehta Market with his wife, Kanchan Devi, and daughter Priya when the tragedy struck.

Upon reaching the bypass, a speeding Scorpio traveling from Patna to Gaya collided head-on with their motorcycle.

The crash proved fatal for Shravan Kumar and his daughter, who died at the scene.

Kanchan Devi sustained critical injuries and was quickly transported to Magadh Medical College in Gaya, where her condition remains critical.

This incident provoked outrage among local residents, who blocked NH-22 in protest, calling for stringent action against the perpetrators. The blockade led to significant disruption until authorities intervened.

Following the incident, a team of police and administrative officials, led by Sub-Divisional Officer Rajib Ranjan Sinha, arrived at the scene and successfully calmed the protesters, restoring traffic flow.

The police have taken custody of the deceased's bodies, sending them to Sadar Hospital, Jehanabad, for post-mortem examinations.

Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
