Patna, Nov 14 (NationPress) The preliminary results from the Bihar Assembly election counting reveal a significant setback for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), indicating it is heading towards its most substantial electoral loss yet.
In the initial four hours of counting, which concluded at 12 noon, trends from all 243 seats showcased the NDA moving towards an overwhelming victory.
As per early trends reported by the Election Commission of India (ECI) by 1:45 p.m., the BJP is leading in 91 seats, JD-U in 81, LJP-RV in 21, HAM in five, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha in four seats.
Conversely, the RJD is only leading in 35 seats, a stark drop from the 75 seats it secured in the 2020 Assembly elections, where it was the largest party.
The Congress is leading on six seats, CPI-ML on six, while CPI, CPI-M, and VIP each hold one seat.
This trend signals a considerable rejection of the Lalu Prasad Yadav–led RJD, which campaigned with a series of bold promises, including government jobs for every household, a monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 to women under the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana, and increased honorariums of Rs 30,000 for Jeevika Didis.
The early indicators suggest that voters may have more confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, as their parties are showing robust leads throughout the state.
However, officials caution that the counting process is ongoing, and the ECI has yet to announce any final results or confirm the victory of any candidate.
As the counting progresses for all 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is performing even better than in previous elections.
Notable BJP leaders, including Samrat Choudhary from Tarapur, Maithili Thakur from Alinagar, and Health Minister Mangal Pandey, have maintained consistent leads since the early counting stages.
With the NDA alliance enjoying a substantial edge, the pivotal question remains whether Nitish Kumar will reassume the role of Chief Minister.
By this evening, official results will start pouring in, clarifying who will establish the next government in Bihar.
