Patna, Dec 13 (NationPress) A spectacular passing-out ceremony for 1,218 trainee sub-inspectors from the 2023 batch took place on Saturday at the Bihar Police Academy located in Rajgir.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was the chief guest at this grand event, took the salute during the parade and extended his congratulations to the newly appointed officers, wishing them success in their upcoming roles.

Alongside him were Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary, Minister Vijay Choudhary, and Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar.

The Chief Minister addressed the audience, stating that as crime evolves, the demands on police have intensified, and only a well-trained, disciplined, and responsive police force can fulfill societal expectations.

This remarkable batch achieved a milestone by including three transgender trainee sub-inspectors: Bunty Kumar, Madhu Kashyap, and Ronit Jha.

Out of this batch, 779 are men, 436 are women, and 3 are transgender officers. Additionally, it features 23 trainees admitted under the sports quota and four from the Jharkhand cadre.

Exceptional performers were acknowledged during the ceremony.

Ankit Kumar was awarded the Chief Minister’s Pistol and Baton, Rupesh Kumar received the Sword, and Meena Kumari was honored with the Best Parade Commander Award.

Director of the Police Training Centre, R. Malar Villi, stated that the trainees underwent extensive training—both indoors and outdoors—to equip them for real-world challenges.

With their training now complete, all 1,218 sub-inspectors are set to join the Bihar Police force and assume their duties related to law and order.

While the ceremony adhered to traditional practices, a notable moment during the inspection phase sparked considerable discussion among political and bureaucratic circles.

Following long-established protocol, during a passing-out parade inspection, only the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police (DGP) are traditionally seen in the inspection jeep.

This convention has been upheld for years.

However, at Rajgir, the situation unfolded differently.

After a female sub-inspector formally announced the Chief Minister’s readiness for inspection, DGP Vinay Kumar escorted Nitish Kumar to the inspection jeep.

According to protocol, both entered the vehicle. But shortly thereafter, the Chief Minister requested Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary to join the inspection.

Despite initial hesitation, Samrat Choudhary complied with the Chief Minister’s request.

The situation took another twist when Nitish Kumar called upon Vijay Choudhary and then Shravan Kumar.

Shravan Kumar initially declined, saying, “You proceed, sir,” but the Chief Minister insisted, encouraging him to join as well. Eventually, he boarded the jeep.

Consequently, the inspection was conducted with the Chief Minister, the DGP, and three ministers sharing the same jeep—a distinct departure from established protocol that quickly became a focal point of discussion.
