Patna, April 2 (NationPress) Reinforcing its commitment to a zero tolerance policy against corruption, the Bihar Police took decisive action on Thursday against a compromised police officer.
Chandan Kushwaha, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Tirhut Range, has swiftly ordered the immediate dismissal of Sub-Inspector Sadre Alam.
The incident traces back to 2021 when Sadre Alam was serving at the Ahiyapur Police Station in Muzaffarpur.
A complainant, Tabassum Ara from Sipahipur, had reported allegations of bribery to the Vigilance Investigation Bureau.
Responding to the complaint, a trap operation was executed on September 30, 2021, leading to Sadre Alam's capture while accepting a bribe of Rs 11,000.
The arrest occurred at a tea stall located near the police station.
A case was subsequently filed at the Vigilance Police Station.
Following Alam's arrest, a departmental inquiry was initiated.
This inquiry was conducted under the oversight of the Muzaffarpur Deputy Superintendent of Police (East), with Shahryar Akhtar serving as the Investigating Officer.
The final report confirmed that the corruption charges were entirely substantiated.
The officer was found guilty of dereliction of duty and engaging in unethical behavior.
In light of these findings, DIG Kushwaha has mandated Alam's dismissal, sending a potent message throughout the police department.
Echoing the conclusions of the Inquiry Authority and the recommendations from Kantesh Kumar Mishra, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Muzaffarpur, DIG Chandan Kushwaha has enforced the dismissal of Sadre Alam.
This action underscores the Bihar Police's unwavering resolve against corruption and misconduct within its ranks.
Officials have reiterated that any involvement in bribery will incur strict disciplinary measures.
Accountability and integrity remain paramount priorities.
A statement from the DIG's office highlighted that the Police Department is a disciplined organization where integrity is of utmost importance.
It stressed that the ongoing presence of individuals engaged in corrupt practices not only undermines public confidence but also tarnishes the reputation of the honest officers serving in the force.
