Patna, Jan 2 (NationPress) In a significant move against corruption, the Vigilance Department of Bihar apprehended a sub-inspector stationed at Akbarpur police station in Nawada district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.

The suspect was caught in the act during a meticulously orchestrated sting operation.

This incident arose from a report lodged by Vikas Kumar, a local resident of Warisaliganj, Nawada, at the Vigilance Department's headquarters in Patna.

In his report, Vikas Kumar accused Sub-Inspector Pramod Kumar of soliciting money in return for resolving a case.

Upon validating the complaint and confirming its authenticity, the Vigilance Department formed a specialized team led by DSP Gautam Krishna.

The team proceeded to Nawada to execute the sting operation and successfully apprehended the accused.

Once the complainant handed over the Rs 25,000 bribe to Sub-Inspector Pramod Kumar, the vigilance team intervened immediately, capturing him red-handed.

The arrested officer was taken into custody and subsequently transported to Patna, where he is set to be presented before the Vigilance Special Court for further legal actions.

This arrest underscores the state government's unwavering stance against corruption.

Officials from the Vigilance Department affirmed that measures will persist against any official abusing their authority for personal benefits.

Previously, on December 23, 2025, another sub-inspector in Siwan district was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.

The officer, identified as Kanhaiya Kumar Singh, was working at the Siswan police station.

This case is linked to a land dispute reported on December 18, which resulted in a conflict between two parties.

A case was registered at the Siswan police station as Case No. 309, with the investigation assigned to SI Kanhaiya Kumar Singh.

The complaint indicated that the investigating officer demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 from Sunil Kumar to remove his sister's name from the case records.
