Bihar Sharif Railway Station Receives Revamp Under Amrit Bharat Station Initiative

Patna, Dec 12 (NationPress) The Bihar Sharif railway station located in Nalanda district is currently undergoing a significant upgrade as part of the Amrit Bharat Station scheme spearheaded by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This transformation will introduce modern amenities and facilities at the station.

As reported by officials from Indian Railways, a budget of Rs 6 crore has been sanctioned for the enhancement and redesign of the railway station under this initiative.

The ongoing development efforts at the railway station are progressing rapidly, with a primary focus on improving the travel facilities for passengers.

Key improvements include effective vehicle parking solutions, the construction of new buildings, installation of escalators and lifts, development of foot overbridges, enhanced toilet facilities, and improved drainage systems.

Additionally, road construction is underway to link the station complex with the national highway.

According to a railway engineer overseeing the project, approximately 30 percent of the parking space development is complete.

Construction on the foot overbridge has commenced, and escalators and lifts will soon be added to facilitate easy access to the platform.

The construction of toilets is 90 percent finished, and work on the drainage system is nearing its final stages.

It is noteworthy that the enhancement of railway stations, including the one in Bihar's Nalanda district, is being implemented nationwide under the Amrit Bharat Yojana.

The current development efforts at Bihar Sharif station are anticipated to reach completion by June 2025.

The Amrit Bharat Station scheme was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to modernize and enhance the convenience of railway stations for passengers.

This encompasses improving station infrastructure, expanding passenger amenities, enhancing cleanliness, providing free Wi-Fi, establishing kiosks for local products, ensuring special provisions for individuals with disabilities, and implementing eco-friendly practices.

The Amrit Bharat Station scheme aims to upgrade and modernize a total of 1,275 stations within the Indian Railway system.

As part of this initiative, 18 stations from the Sonpur Division and 20 stations from the Samastipur Division have been earmarked for special attention.
