New Delhi, July 23 (NationPress) In a significant advancement showcasing Bihar's increasing relevance in India's infrastructure framework, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced in Parliament that the Indian Railway is spearheading numerous transformative initiatives throughout the state.
The minister stated that the redevelopment of 98 railway stations in Bihar is currently in progress, aiming to provide a contemporary appearance and improved passenger facilities.
“Furthermore, the introduction of eight new Vande Bharat trains (which includes five Amrit Bharat Express and one Namo Bharat) is now operational, delivering affordable yet modern rail travel experiences for the residents of Bihar,” Vaishnaw noted.
In his address to Parliament, Vaishnaw emphasized that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, projects that have been delayed for years are being completed with remarkable speed and efficiency.
He referenced the construction of new bridges in Munger and Patna as instances of how long-standing demands are being addressed.
The railway minister also disclosed that 218 flyovers and underpasses have been built across the state, enhancing connectivity and alleviating traffic congestion.
The launch of new Amrit Bharat Express trains from Patna to Delhi, Darbhanga to Delhi, and Bengaluru further exemplifies the Centre’s commitment to Bihar.
“These trains are designed to offer quality amenities even to the economically disadvantaged,” the Union Minister stated.
While speaking in Parliament, Vaishnaw acknowledged the Prime Minister’s vision for the rapid development of the railway sector in Bihar.
He remarked that these changes signify not merely infrastructural improvements but also a broader initiative to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Bihar.
Meanwhile, in a written response to the Lok Sabha, the Union Minister indicated that over the past three years — 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 — and in the current financial year (FY26), a total of 892 surveys have been approved across Indian Railways.
These encompass 267 for new lines, 11 for gauge conversion, and 614 for doubling, covering a total length of 61,462 kilometres, he added.
