Patna, Sep 29 (NationPress) Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw officially launched seven new train services from Bihar on Monday, which include three Amrit Bharat Express trains designed to offer affordable long-distance travel for lower and middle-income travelers.
Vaishnaw flagged off the services virtually from New Delhi, while Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary symbolically initiated them at Patna Junction.
The newly introduced Amrit Bharat Express trains will operate on routes connecting Darbhanga–Madar (Ajmer), Muzaffarpur–Charlapalli (Hyderabad), and Chhapra–Anand Vihar (Delhi).
In addition, four new passenger trains will serve shorter routes within Bihar between Jhajha–Danapur, Patna–Buxar, Nawada–Patna, and Patna–Islampur.
During the launch, Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of these new services, stating they would provide hassle-free and economical transportation for Bihari migrants and daily commuters.
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in collaboration with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, we are introducing seven new trains that will enhance connectivity among various cities and offer reduced fares for the lower and middle-income demographics,” he remarked.
The Railway Minister acknowledged Nitish Kumar for his previous contributions to the railway sector.
“When Nitish Kumar served as the Union Railway Minister, he elevated the department significantly. Although there was a decline from 2004 to 2014, Indian Railways began to transform again after PM Modi took office, reaching new heights,” Vaishnaw highlighted.
The launch of the Amrit Bharat Express, a budget-friendly alternative to the premium Vande Bharat trains, is part of the government's initiative to modernize railway services while ensuring affordability for millions.
Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, who attended the event in Patna, expressed appreciation for the Centre's commitment to improving Bihar's infrastructure.
“I extend my gratitude to PM Narendra Modi, CM Nitish Kumar, and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for revolutionizing Bihar in various sectors, including railway and road infrastructure,” Choudhary stated.
He further announced upcoming projects such as a ring road in Bhagalpur and a four-lane road connecting Sultanganj (Bhagalpur) to Deoghar (Jharkhand), along with a new railway line to connect the two significant pilgrimage sites.
Choudhary highlighted the scale of Central support, stating, “During the UPA regime, Bihar received around Rs 1,000 crore annually for the railway sector. However, in the past 11 years of the Narendra Modi administration, the Centre has allocated over Rs 100,000 crore for railway development in Bihar.
