Patna, Jan 3 (NationPress) The Bihar Transport Minister, Shravan Kumar, has implemented strict regulations to safeguard the well-being of schoolchildren traveling throughout the state.
Stressing that the safety of children is the government's utmost priority, the minister cautioned that severe punitive measures will be enforced against school administrations and vehicle proprietors who neglect to adhere to the mandated safety protocols.
To implement these guidelines, the Transport Department will initiate a comprehensive state-wide inspection campaign in January.
All District Transport Officers (DTOs) have been instructed to perform meticulous inspections of school-operated vehicles.
In line with the new regulations, each school vehicle must be outfitted with a Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD), panic button, GPS, and CCTV cameras.
School authorities will be accountable for securely archiving a minimum of 60 days of CCTV footage.
To combat overspeeding, speed governors are now obligatory in all school buses, restricting the maximum speed to 40 km per hour.

“Drivers who are fined more than twice a year for red-light violations or lane indiscipline will be disqualified,” he remarked.
